BEAD SWAP - HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: Pack your odd beads and exchange them for fresh, new exciting beads! Bring a rimmed tray or platter and your bead stash to the NVBS “Just a Day of Beading” event. From 1 to 4 PM we will have half the people move around the room to look at the other half’s stationary bead offerings. Place your trade beads on your tray so that everything can be seen and will not roll off. If you see something that you like – barter for something on your tray. If you see something you want from person A’s tray, and they see something on person’s B tray, try to make a three way exchange. NO CASH will be offered or tendered for ANY beads. Exchanges do not have to be one bead for one bead – it could be a bag of seed beads for a large focal. The swap is up to the parties with the beads. If you do not see anything on a person’s tray that you want, move on to the next tray or ask them to come back later to see if you will change your mind. Beads were originally a source of currency, or "trade." There are even beads that are classified as "Trade Beads," which were used for currency, exchange of goods, or purchases. It was their beauty most often, not their original "cost” that determined their value in a trade. So, what you no longer see as beautiful, another person may view as an absolute treasure. |
